Three Keys That Unlock All The Covenant Blessings

Last week I announced the soon release of my new book, I am Not Afraid of My Future, the first of The Timothy Collection for young people of every nation.

In fourteen brief chapters, I share the many blessings that were already here on planet Earth when you arrived—just as God created the Garden of Eden and everything in it for Adam and Eve, so He prepared and provided these “good” things just for you!

I John 5:8, NKJ And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.

It is not enough to know about these things. God meant for us to enjoy them. How can we possess them and make them our own? There are three important keys that unlock all these covenant benefits: (1) The blood; (2) The water; and (3) The Spirit.

Through the finished work of Jesus Christ by His death, His burial and His resurrection (Jn. 19:30 with 1 Cor. 15:3-4), God has made a covenant or agreement with us—the “New Testament” in Jesus blood (Matt. 26:28; 1 Cor. 11:25; Heb. 9:15).

The first covenantal key is the BLOOD (Rom. 5:9; Heb. 9:22; Rev. 1:5 with 1 Pet. 1:18-19; 1 Jn. 1:7). Jesus paid the full price so that His righteousness (He was sinless) could be given to you. God removed the penalty of your sin and your death (Rom. 6:23) and restored you to favor with Him. Your sins were not excused, but actually punished and then removed because of what Jesus did for you! Then when Jesus rose from the dead, the power was released to make all this work for you!

The second key is the WATER (Acts 2:38 with Rom. 6:2-5). You need to be baptized in water. The word “baptism” means, “immersion, to be completely submerged under water.” You are dunked, and your head goes under, too. Water baptism is a picture of what happened to you when you asked Jesus to come into your heart. Jesus died, and was buried, and rose again from the dead. Amazingly, so have we!

The third key to walking with God is the SPIRIT (Acts 1:5; 19:2; Eph. 5:17-18). To fully receive and enjoy all these many covenantal blessings, you need to be filled with the Holy Spirit. In my book, The Tabernacle is Jesus, Volume 2, I taught about the Golden Lampstand in the Tabernacle of Moses. It had bowls on it that were filled with oil, a symbolic picture of us being filled with the Holy Spirit. In that volume, I showed you many things about this experience, including how to be baptized with the Holy Spirit.

The blood, the water, and the Spirit—these are the three keys that unlock and release the blessings and benefits of the New Testament. With all that going for you, you do not have to be afraid of your future!
