We Have A Little Sister

All this month, the chronicles have emphasized the importance of practical Christian living. As a people of the Word and the Spirit, we are called to keep all three Feasts of Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles. We are to be dispensers of His life and love in our personal walk with the Lord, our homes, and our local churches.

But what about others, especially the weak ones, or those or know Him not?

Song 8:8, KJV We have a LITTLE SISTER, and she hath NO BREASTS: what shall we do for our sister in the day when she shall be spoken for?

In this most unusual verse, the Bridegroom Lover and King (Jesus) speaks to His mature Bride (His Church), challenging her to share His great burden for all of creation.

Who is this “LITTLE SISTER” (“young sister” – NIV)?

The only clue is that she has “NO BREASTS” (“her breasts are not yet grown” – NIV). The Living Bible adds that she is “too young for breasts.”

In His light we see light (Psa. 36:9). The Word interprets itself. The Bible mentions the “breastplate of JUDGMENT” (Ex. 26:15) and the “breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS” (Eph. 6:14). But Paul, in his first letter to the young church at Thessalonica, most clearly explains the little sister’s plight.

1 Thessalonians 5:8, KJV But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of FAITH and LOVE….

The LITTLE SISTER with NO BREASTS comprises those younger members of the family of God whose LOVE and FAITH are UNDEVELOPED.

This is the seventh month in God, the season for a mature Church and the unprecedented global ingathering of the Feast of Tabernacles. The fields are always white and ripe unto harvest, but the laborers are few (Jn. 4:35 with Lk. 10:2).

In this great family of God, there are always those OVER YOU in the Lord, those BESIDE YOU as your peers, and those BEHIND YOU or UNDER YOU who have yet to discover the greater goodness and blessing of the Lord that you have learned to enjoy.

We have a LITTLE SISTER. Her day has come. The King is calling her as well to the marriage. What are we going to do for her? Share your FAITH and LOVE.
